The City Of Woodstock, Georgia

Located about 40 minutes northwest of Atlanta lies the city of Woodstock, Georgia. Established in 1897 as a railway stop with significant cotton shipments, Woodstock is now the fastest growing city in Cherokee County. With the growth rate of Woodstock at 70% over the past 10 years, the city has doubled in size. Major attractions for residents are low property taxes; good public schools; great area facilities, shops and restaurants; relatively inexpensive housing and an abundance of amenity rich-communities.

Woodstock mixes the old with the new, with a number of different business districts and housing developments of various ages, size and quality. Alabama Road (Highway 92) is the main retail strip for the big box stores like HomeDepot, Lowes, Super Walmarts, Kohls and Target - as well as many chain and fastfood restaurants.

The Main Street area features the historic part of Woodstock with a railway line running through it and plenty of character and charm. The east side of the railway line has recently been redeveloped and features some chic new bars (including a roof top bar), restaurants and boutique style stores, with luxury tonwhomes overlooking the new pedestrian friendly urban area.

The final retail section is the Town Lake Parkway/Eagle Drive area. This section features both Publix and Kroger supermarkets, numerous pharmacies, a wide selection of restaurants and dining options, as well as Northside Hospital and a Wellstar urgent care. Branching off Town Lake Parkway and Eagle Drive are some moderately upmarket communities including the Golf Course neighborhoods of Towne Lake Hills and Eagle Watch, as well the amentity-rich communities of Deer Run, Providence Place, Wellesley, Centential Place, Hearthstone, The Estates At Towne Lake and more.

Woodstock features a number of city parks and amenities including The Park at City Center, Dupree Park (pictured above), Dobbs Road Park, Springfield Park and Olde Rope Mill Park. The city also features the Greenprints Alliance. As part of the Comprehensive Town Plan 2030 adopted by the City in 2008, the plan calls for a 60+ mile trail and open space network throughout the City and surrounding areas.

Other features and amenities close by include Lake Allatoona, Redtop Mountain State Park, Etowah River and the Etowah River Trail, numerous hiking and walking trails, and the neighboring cities of Acworth, Roswell, Canton, Holly Springs and Cartesville. A short drive north leads into the North Georgia Mountains and the lower Appalachians.
